19-04-1959

The establishment of Malaysian Buddhist Association was declared at Kek Lok Si.

Year 1961

The 2nd Annual General Meeting was held in Malacca. Members of meeting agreed unanimously in setting up the Malaysian Buddhist Institute (MBI).

Year 1964

The MBA building at Jalan Burma was completed in the year of 1964.

24-04-1969

The Malaysian Buddhist Institute (MBI) Committee was officially formed up in pursuing the preparation work.  

18-09-1969

The Board of Directors was formed up officially. Public recommended Ven. ZhenGuo to be elected as the chairman of the board; while Ven. BenDao and Ven. RuXian as the deputy chairman. Ven. XiangKong was in charge of the general affairs, while Ven. QingLiang served as the treasurer. Ven. ZhuMo and Ven. BaiSheng acceded to the post of Dean and Deputy Dean respectively. 

HuangYinWen was employed as the director of Academic Affairs, while ChenShaoYing as the dormitory warden and other staff members were also appointed.

03-03-1970

Courses in MBI officially started in 1970. At first, only a few small rooms located on the third floor of the MBA building were used as the schoolhouse. Later, the conference hall and the last classroom on the right on the third floor were used.

April, Year 1971

The registration of “Malaysia Buddhist Institute” was approved by the Government. 

22-11-1973

The Malaya Buddhist Association was formally approved to be renamed as the Malaysia Buddhist Association by the Registrar of Societies.

01-01-1979

Correspondence courses were offered so that those who were interested but could not attend to MBI Dharma courseswere given chances in learning the Dharma. 

19-09-1994

To ensure the stability of finance of the MBI, ___ was established to raise fund to support the expenditures of the institute.

01-12-1994

The initial schoolhouse is no longer sufficient to support the current classes and activities,hence the classrooms of Penang Buddhist Free School on the 2nd floor of MBA building were borrowed for the purpose of classes.

The ceremony of commencement of computer classes.
